I am keenly aware of the value of a top rate education, and how critical such is for preparing our students for life and career success.
Like others graduating from our outstanding local schools, I was academically prepared to succeed at college and, in my case, go on to earn my doctorate. The foundation of my local education has proved instrumental in all my subsequent opportunities and chances to contribute to the greater good.
I remain grateful for the quality of local education I received, and this inspires me to help make it possible for others to benefit from similar educational opportunities. That’s why I have helped achieve record levels of state investment in k-12 education, supported parochial schools, and pushed policies to make college affordable. Plus, I have sought to roll back mandates and emphasize local control of education.
I do all this because an excellent education yields lifetime benefits for individuals, and is of critical value for our society in many ways.
